Boku no Imōto wa “Ōsaka Okan” Premieres as Animation Short

Animation, no matter how long or short, has always made it to the hearts of fans. We’ve been enamored by the many lengthy, popular series, but we’re also surprised to see that even anime shorts can get the spotlight for a few minutes and totally win us over.

Dresden Pictures Gets Thumbs Up For Live Action Take On Studio Ghibli Work

UK based company, Dresden Pictures, has earned the right to recreate a live-action take on Studio Ghibli’s (株式会社スタジオジブリ) film, Grave of the Fireflies (火垂るの墓).

Based on the novel written by Akiyuki Nosaka (野坂 昭如), the Studio Ghibli adaptation of Grave of the Fireflies was both directed and written by Isao Takahata (高畑 勲). Running for 88 minutes, the story takes place in the remaining months of the Second World War and revolves around the lives of siblings Seita (清太) and Setsuko (節子). Keep Reading

Light Novel Series Mondai-Ji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sō Desu yo Bundles Original Anime

Taro Tatsunoko’s light novel series, Mondai-Ji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sō Desu yo (問題児たちが異世界から来るそうですよ? / Don’t Problem Children Come from Another World?) now gears up for an animation project as the production for this title has announced an OAV to be bundled along with the release of its eight volume. The Blu-ray Disc video will be shipped along with the series next July.

It must be known that Mondai-Ji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sō Desu yo is also prepped up to become one of the many January 2013 anime offerings in Japan, with a television anime slated for the new year. Keep Reading

Utada Hikaru Sings Evangelion 3.0 Theme

Famous Japanese singer Utada Hikaru (宇多田 ヒカル) is back and this time, she’s providing the theme song for the most awaited Evangelion movie, Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo (ヱヴァンゲリヲン新劇場版:Q Quickening).

Utada’s single entitled Sakura Nagashi (桜流し) was used as the latest Evangelion movie’s theme. The song lasts for nearly 5 minutes and is the first song since the singer’s November 2010 song, Goodbye Happiness. Utada came back to the music scene thanks to an offer made by the movie’s producers, and of course, her love for the anime/manga franchise. Keep Reading

Ikkitousen To Be Adapted into a Stage Play

It has been announced that Ikkitousen, the popular action manga created by Yuji Shiozaki, will be adapted into a stage play. Literally translated as “Strength of a Thousand,” Shiozaki’s manga features beautiful heroines which are heavily geared up for fighting. The series focus on an all-out gang war within the Kanto District, Japan, where the fighters are known for their nicknames as toshi, meaning “fighting soldier.”

Green-haired Vocaloid Gumi (グミ) has not one but three new songs. The first song is guaranteed to make you grab a tissue. Entitled The Transient Apple Salesgirl (林檎売りの泡沫少女), this song tells the tale of a mortal girl born in a land of immortals. She sells confections made from apples but is treated cruelly by the townsmen until a young boy came and changed her life.
