Figures In The News: The Rider, The Pirates And The Student Council President

fate riderEvery die hard otaku is not complete without their own collection of anime figures. This week, Asgard talks about the latest anime figures and we’re starting off with Fate/Zero’s (フェイト/ゼロ) Rider (ライダー).

During the Chara Hobby 2012 event, MegaHouse (メガハウス) displayed this unpainted Rider figure along with other unpainted mechas, as well as trading figures of the Fate/Zero cast. In Fate/Zero, Rider is the servant of Waver Velvet (ウェイバー・ベルベット) and is also known as Iskander (イスカンダル) or Alexander the Great. Keep Reading

Beloved Voice Actress Gets Manga Surprises As Wedding Gifts

Ryoko ShiraishiVoice actress Ryoko Shiraishi (白石 涼子) had a very happy week. The day before she turned 30, Shiraishi tied the knot with her boyfriend, a simple company worker. The voice actress of Hayate Ayasaki (綾崎 ハヤテ) from Hayate the Combat Butler (ハヤテのごとく!) celebrated her 30th birthday on September 7, 2012. Manga artist Takashi Shiina (椎名高志) was recently joined in by fellow mangaka Karino Takatsu (高津 カリノ) in celebrating Shiraishi’s wedding with simple, congratulatory mangas. Keep Reading

Hatsune Miku In The News: Birthday Girl’s New Clothes, Papercraft And Nendoroid

Last September 1, Hatsune Miku (初音ミク) has officially turned another year older! Our favorite vocaloid is now 5 years old and Asgard has the latest Miku news for all you Miku fans out there and we’ll start off with the limited edition Sakura Miku (桜ミク) nendoroid.

 

The Sakura Miku nendoroid is a special offering by Good Smile Company to celebrate Hatsune Miku’s fifth birthday. This lovely little Miku is decked out in her a pink costume with sakuras all over her hair and costume. Keep Reading

Kirby Breaks A World Record On His 20th Anniversary

Kirby (カービィ) celebrated his 20th anniversary on the video game industry by breaking the world record for the having the most people blowing a bubblegum bubble simultaneously!

The massive bubble blowing event was held in PAX Prime, Seattle on September 1, 2012. Kirby fans broke the previous world record of 304 people by a large margin. Fans who attended the Kirby bubblegum blowing event reached up to a whopping 536 and some fans got to take home prizes, including the Kirby’s Dream Collection: Special Edition for the Nintendo Wii! Lessons Learned From The Cagayan De Oro City Festival Parade 2012

Cagayan de Oro City celebrated its 2012 city fiest in honor of Saint Augustine of Hippo, the city’s patron saint on August 28, 2012. On August 27, 2012, a citywide parade was held in Cagayan de Oro City, Philippines as an opening for the city fiest. What made this year’s city parade different is that there was a cosplay entry. Around 20 cosplayers were in attendance and together, they braved the long walk from Gaston Park to the Velez Streets and finally to the Lim Ket Kai Mall. Keep Reading
