Akira Toriyama Provides Doodles For Japanese Nu Metal Band

If you don’t know Akira Toriyama (鳥山 明,), then you don’t know Dragon Ball (ドラゴンボール). The legendary manga artist that gave us Son Goku (孫 悟空) and the rest of the Z Warriors met up with Japanese nu metal band, Maximum The Hormone (マキシマムザホルモン), at Electric Lady Land in Nagoya, Japan last October 29, 2012.

Russian Teenager Commits Suicide After Favorite Naruto Character Dies

14-year-old Leonid Hmelev was found dead after jumping off more than 100 feet from the highest point of an apartment in Chaikovsky, Russia. The cause of his depression and ultimately his untimely death is seeing Naruto character, Itachi Uchiha (うちは イタチ), die in the anime. The Daily Mail, a British news media, has reported this unfortunate event last Friday.

After Itachi’s death, a highly devastated Hmelev left a message on a social networking website saying he was “planning an ending”. Keep Reading

The Godfather of Anime and the God of Manga, Osamu Tezuka (手塚 治虫), has introduced us to anime and manga. While Astro Boy (鉄腕アトム), Black Jack (ブラック・ジャック) and Kimba the White Lion (ジャングル大帝) still entertains us today, the news of an unpublished manga that was created in his late teens swept the nation. Goro Miyazaki’s From Up On Poppy Hill Up For The Oscars

Studio Ghibli’s 2011 offering, From up on Poppy Hill (コクリコ坂から), has been submitted for a consideration as an Oscar nomination. This film, which runs for about 90 minutes, was made from a father-and-son collaboration. The great Hayao Miyazaki (宮崎 駿), together with Keiko Niwa, worked on the film’s script while Goro Miyazaki (宮崎 吾朗), Miyazaki’s son, directed the movie.

From up on Poppy Hill takes place in a 1960’s time frame of Japan – the time when the country was preparing itself to host the Olympics. Keep Reading

Not too long ago, a special Pikachu edition of the Nintendo 3DS XL was announced by Nintendo. Now, it’s Charizard’s (リザードン) time to shine with its own limited edition 3DS XL.

Fans of the Pokemon series are no stranger to this fire-breathing behemoth. Standing at 5’07” and weighing at 199.6 lbs, Charizard is the sixth entry on the National Pokedex and is the second evolution of the humble Charmander (ヒトカゲ).
