Human Vs. Demons in Maoyu Mao Yusha Anime

Another anime is coming your way, as the official website designated for the TV anime adaptation of Touno Mamare’s creation, Maoyu Mao Yusha (The Enemy and Hero) has just revealed the production is ready for its winter premiere date. Touno Mamare has started writing this story as an online novel which was featured on the 2channel forum, until Enterbrain publishing has began to print the series in 2010. The first five volumes have sold more than 450,000 copies.

Alongside the plot are special episodes, such as Episode 1: The Sorceress of the Country of Elm, and Episode 0: The Archer of the Country of Dunes. Both are spinoff novels. The series have notably received various manga adaptations.

Takeo Takahashi will be directing the anime adaptation at the studio ARMS. Naruhisa Arakawa will be in charge of the scripts and Masashi Kudo along with Hiroaki Karasu will handle the character designs. Takeshi Hama will score the music.

Alongside the staff, the cast for the anime series was also revealed:

• Jun Fukuyama as Yūsha (Hero)
• Chiwa Saito as Maid-chō (Head Maid)
• Haruka Tomatsu as Maid-ane (Older Maid Sister)
• Nao Tōyama as Maid-imōto (Younger Maid Sister)
• Miyuki Sawashiro as Jokishi (Female Knight)
• Hiroshi Kamiya as Seinen Shōnin (Young Merchant)

This is the same cast who have done the CD adaptation and read-aloud version of the series.

Maoyu Mao Yusha centers around the life of Yusha, the hero, who is a fighter currently waging a war against demons. The humans have been fighting against demons, and were able to infiltrate their country. However, during this discourse, Yusha is separated from his other companions, before he is able to enter the castle of the Demon Queen, Mao.

Yusha confronts Mao by himself, asking about the destructive war which her clan has brought upon his. But Mao tells him that this war was created for humans’ sake—that only during this time, humans can work together and improve their overall friendship. If without it, the humans will fall into a bloody war by themselves, battling their own kind. To prevent such disaster, Yusha decides to join Mao.
