RK Live Action News: Shishio Makoto Has Formed The Juppongatana
The latest Rurouni Kenshin ( るろうに剣心 -明治剣客浪漫譚-) live action movie press photo has been released and Tatsuya Fujiwara (藤原 竜也), who plays Shishio Makoto (志々雄 真実), has finally been joined by the Juppongatana (十本刀). With Shishio standing in the middle with his Mugenjin (無限刃) in his hand, the members of the Juppongatana stand and line on either side of him.
In the Rurouni Kenshin universe, the Juppongatana is a group of immensely skilled warriors formed and ruled by Shishio with the objective of overthrowing the Meiji Government. Each fighter has a different specialty from sword fighting to hand-to-hand combat, with Soujiro Seta (瀬田 宗次郎), portrayed by Ryunosuke Kamiki (神木 隆之介), the strongest among them. Other members of the Juppongatana are Fuji (不二), Honjo Kamatari (本条 鎌足), Iwanbo (夷腕坊), Kariwa Henya (刈羽 蝙也), Sadojima Hoji (佐渡島 方治), Saizuchi (才槌), Sawagejo Cho (沢下条張), Uonuma Usui (魚沼 宇水) and Yukyuzan Anji (悠久山 安慈).
We all know Hoji and Soujiro as they are seen constantly beside Shishio. Here’s a quick recap of the other members of the Juppongatana: In Episode 44 of the anime, the Juppongatana were summoned and some were sent to fight in Aoi-Ya – all except for Cho who was locked behind bars. The others who remained fought Kenshin Himura (緋村 剣心) and his two comrades. The team dispatched in Aoi-Ya composedof Kamatari, Iwanbo, Fuji, Saizuchi and Henya. Kamatari was well known for the scythe her carried (yes, Kamatari is a man) while the tandem of Fuji and Saizuchi can be recalled as the tiny, manipulative man with a giant. Fat and dopey Iwanbo only smiles and grunts while Henya (not to be confused with the Oniwabanshu’s Han’nya (般若)), was a bat of man with a boatload of ammunition.
Anji is the monk who taught Sanosuke Sagara (相楽 左之助) the Futae No Kiwami. Usui was the blind swordsman who used a turtle’s shell as a shield. Cho was the swordsman who initially fought with Kenshin over the last sword made by Shakku Arai (新井 赤空). Can you identify all of them in the Juppongatana press photo?
